Grant McPhie Memorial Shield -
Dedicated Achievement by a Junior Boy
(Awarded to a junior boy that has had oustanding achievements in hockey)
Grant MacPhie started with East Malvern Hockey Club in 1958 at the age of 10. He played throughout his junior years and then coached and mentored many junior players and teams. He was coach of the inaugural women's team at TEM, delegate to the VHA and VJHA for many years, manager of the State U14 team for seven years, V-P of Juniors for six years and President of TEM Hockey Club in 1989-90. In 1986 he received the highest award at the club, the Bruce Hulston trophy. In 1990 he was awarded Life Membership of the Club. He died performing his duty as a police officer in 1994. Grant is the father of Rob MacPhie, father in law of Christine and grandfather of Jay, Sam & Elise.
